If you own a local service business and utilize Google Local Services Ads (LSA), you know how powerful they are at generating high-quality leads. You also understand that photographs have a significant impact on conversion rates. Good photographs make a difference because they highlight your work, introduce your team, and give homeowners a sense of the kind of service you provide.

However, getting photographs authorized has not always been easy, with some regulations occasionally resulting in rejections.

What's Changing?

Starting May 22, 2025, Google has indicated that some of the following restrictions previously used to reject photos during the LSA review process will no longer be considered grounds for disapproval.

This means photos previously rejected for the following issues might now be accepted:

  • Off Topic
  • Wrong Watermark
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address.
  • Street Address
  • Out of Focus
  • Bad Lighting
  • Screenshot
  • Duplicate Image

Tested: This does not apply to the Headshot for your ad!

What Does This Mean for Your Business?

  1. Easy Photo Approvals: The most obvious benefit! Fewer hurdles to jump through means your LSA profile will look its best faster.
  2. More Flexibility: You may now be able to utilize photographs that were previously unavailable, such as a little blurry action shot, a team portrait with a logo and a phone number visible on a truck, or even a well-composed screenshot related to your service.
  3. Reduced Hassle: Less time spent editing or retaking images to suit highly specific technical requirements that may have little impact on the photo's overall quality or significance.

What Should You Do Now?

  1. Review your photos: Take a look at any photographs you might have wanted to utilize but couldn't due to these specific constraints. They might be useful after May 22nd.
  2. Prioritize Quality: Continue to upload the highest quality, most relevant, and authentic photographs you can. They are a direct representation of your brand.
  3. Stay informed: Keep an eye on official Google communications for any additional information or clarification.

This adjustment appears to be a great step, providing more flexibility for busy service workers in our area. By maintaining a focus on high-quality, real images, you can differentiate your Local Services Ads profile and connect with more clients in Pinellas County and beyond.
